I Saved My Companion's Life?!?!

Hello fans! Another great week here in good old Wellington Kansas!  This was our most eventful week in a while honestly. Let's see so I don't remember the day but one day this week I was going to check the mail and as I was coming back inside I noticed a spider in the corner by our door. Well naturally I wanted it dead so I went to get the spider killer spray and I went out to face my fears. I sprayed this sucker and he fell to the ground and started writhing on the ground and it was at that moment I saw a flash of red on said spiders butt. Well it was at about this point I got a little worried because I realized I wasn't dealing with no ordinary spider. I was dealing with a black widow. My fight or flight instinct kicked in and obviously I went with fight. I took my trusty can of spider killer and unloaded it on my enemy. After a hard fight I sent that spider back to Hell where he came from. The rest of the day I was a little on edge just from the whole ordeal. Not tryna toot my own horn but I probably saved my own life and my companions that day.

We also got not one, but two referrals from Salt Lake this week! The first one had just requested a missionary visit so we called her and talked to her for a few minutes and unfortunately we haven't been able to contact her again, but we'll keep trying!

The other referral had requested a bible study so we called her and left a message but we're hoping she didn't just request to talk to us so she could bash... we'll see!

Well ya that's all the time I've got! The work of the Lord can't be stopped!

Warmest regards,

Elder Nixon

Not Much

Well everyone I don’t have much to say since we don't have much to do. This week wasn't too bad tho! Just a lot of sitting around with nothing to do. If anyone has some great ideas of fun things to do I'd gladly accept them. Keep in mind I am a missionary and can't do a whole lot, but my family sent me a Lego set that I'm stoked about! So yeah that's about all I've got! But I thought I'd still send an email for my fans! I do it for y'all! Hope y'all are doing as well as you can with the times we are in! I loved this weekend though and getting to hear some very inspiring words from our Prophet and our Apostles! I am so grateful we are led by a Prophet who had been called by God! It's reassuring to know that! I challenge everyone to re-read or re listen to conference when it becomes available! I know I will be with my abundant free time! And if you didn't get the chance to watch or listen, or perhaps you were carried away in the spirit during one of the sessions I would definitely encourage you to make sure you read the talks you didn’t hear! Just listen to it all I guess! Feel free to send me stuff to keep us entertained. We will take pretty much anything at this point. 821 w. 7th Wellington KS 67152

Love you all,

Elder Nixon

Also, prayers would be appreciated that my friends who are home right now all get reassigned to the KWM!

I Went to Oklahoma?!?!

Howdy folks. As I'm sure you all know, we are on quarantine. It's quite an interesting time. We don't do a whole lot, but we do what we can.

Let's see so a few weeks ago we had transfers. I got the news I would be staying in Hutch, but my comp was gonna leave. That was sad. I got my new companion who's name was Elder Tennyson from Tuscon AZ. Yes, I meant to say was. More to come.

So, the day after transfers we get a call from our mission president who told us that my new companion was actually going home due to some health conditions and the Corona. So fast forward a week. We get a call from the AP's and they told us we needed to be in Wichita the next day for emergency transfers. He then told me I needed to pack my bags as well because I was leaving the area so that was sad. I only had a few mental breakdowns but I'm good now. So Thursday morning we were in Wichita with all our stuff. It didn’t take long for me to get my new companion and area. My new companion is Elder Briggs from Gilbert AZ so south Provo as we all call it. I'm serving in a little town called Wellington. The other day we were bored so we just said screw it and drove to Oklahoma! It's only about a 30ish minute drive. Yeah that's about all I've got for the week. I'm keeping it together so don't worry about me! Sorry the email is all over the place but I've been pretty scatterbrained lately.

Warmest Regards,

Elder Nixon

COroNAvIRuS

Howdy everyone. Shorter email today because I'm a lazy boi.

First fun story. I've mentioned we play tennis most morning, and Wednesday after our tennis time our key would not go into the lock and we couldn't get back in our apartment! I knew my comp keeps a lock pick kit on him so I said Elder you need to pick this lock. He told me he can't and that he's tried it before. I said Elder where is your faith? The Lord knows we need to get into our apartment so we can get ready. He attempted to pick it and after about 3 minutes he just goes "no fetching way" and then opens the door. That was cool

Ah Thursday what a day. While knocking we found 2 less actives by accident who both wanted to come back to church! And then we had to explain that actually there wasn’t church... so that was fun. Everyone in the mission was losing their minds. It's a pretty big deal to missionaries honestly.

We haven't had a car all week and that is unfortunate. We have to walk everywhere in the rain and cold. Apparently our engine isn't filtering right and there’s carbon monoxide building up or whatever but we haven't been able to drive.

My leg hair is coming back in nicely. It doesn't hurt or itch too bad. Except in the knee pit. It's slightly uncomfortable there.

One of my friends made a great point in his email this week. He talked about how last October the Prophet of God told us we need to be preparing for this conference.  I'd say for the most part we've done a good job, but now with this COVID-19 outbreak everyone's attention has been drawn away from preparing for conference! We need to re-evaluate how we are spending our time. Are we more worried about getting prepared to not leave our house for 3 weeks or are we getting prepared to hear the Prophet of God speak to us in 3 week?

It Finally Happened...

Well folks there is actually some decently good content for the week! Lots of funny stuff and a little bit of good missionary work!

So first things first. It finally happened. (I know addressing the title at the beginning so y'all can quit reading after) anyway. I knew my mission was going to be hard about a month before I left when I called the McDonalds out here to learn they didn’t have hot and spicy McChickens. I love hot and spicys and I didn't know how I would survive without them for 2 years. (To all my friends who cant eat them, I apologize) Anyway after a 7 month drought the McDonalds in Kansas have decided to start serving hot and spicy McChickens!! I got a message on Facebook from my trainer and he told me the news. I didn’t hesitate to go find out for myself. Oh how sweet was my joy to find out he was telling the truth. I ate four of them and coulda died a happy man! So that's exciting!

Next on the list is we met this less active named Cenek Sekavec. You would think he's like this short Checzh guy, but he isn't. He is very white and has no accent whatsoever. Anyway we talked with him and he is SUCH an intelligent man. Its a good thing my comp is so smart because they just had a grand time talking while I just sat there pretending to understand what they were talking about. Good times tho.

We were out walking on Saturday and we walked past this elementary school where this 9 year old boy was balling out. He saw us and started yelling him and his family don't need Jesus and to keep walking. Train em young I guess.

I don’t know how to preface this story, but I'll try. We were talking to this dude who was showing us his super cool bible and how it has cross references and everything. I feel a little bad, but I shredded this man's bible with the KJV and by the end he didn’t like his super cool bible. I then proceeded to destroy his idea on the trinity. Didn’t feel as bad about that. Well he was getting sad so naturally he turned to conspiracy theories. We went outside because we were leaving and he goes, " These are his words. "You see those stars? Those are aliens. President Putin- the antichrist- well he told Obama that he better tell everyone we were in a war with those aliens. Orions belt is actually 3 UFO's called the gray aliens. You can google it man. I wouldn't lie to you about this" We got a good laugh about that.

We have some tennis courts right across the street from our house and every morning we get up at 6am to play tennis for an hour. It's so much fun! I'm getting pretty good I think. Saturday me and Elder Brown were up at 5:30 to play tennis! I was pretty tired the rest of the day but it was so worth it! RIP to my good friend Scott who just bought his racket and pass and then got transferred... I'll serve it into the net for ya.

Ah yes. I ran my first red light this week. Some of the stoplights here are really dumb. Let me explain. They have the two straight lights and then off the side they have the turn arrow. Well I didn’t see the turn arrow. All I saw was a green light so I made the turn. Well about halfway through the turn I realized what I did. Oops. No cops saw so we good.

Umm lastly. I shaved my legs. No I didn’t cut myself. Yes, my sheets felt really weird. Yes, my legs get really cold and yes I am very not excited for the hair to start growing back.

Overall the mish is a grand time! I'm loving (almost) every minute. It's hard but it'll be worth it! I love this church and the peace it brings to me!

Warmest regards,

Elder Nixon
